24.2MP APS-C Sensor with 5-Axis IBIS

The standout feature of the Sony A6500 is its 5-axis in-body image stabilization. Unlike optical stabilization that only works with specific lenses, IBIS moves the sensor itself to counteract camera shake. This means every lens you mount on the Sony A6500 benefits from stabilization — a massive advantage for handheld shooting . One experienced user noted that “the 5-axis stabilisation provides great in the hand stability providing a highly portable professional camera for everyday use” .

For photographers who shoot in dim venues, at dusk, or simply want sharper handheld images, the Sony A6500 delivers where many cameras struggle.

Whether you are photographing sports, wildlife, or active children, the Sony A6500 keeps your subject in sharp focus.

The camera also offers 11fps continuous shooting with AE/AF tracking, and a deep buffer that can handle up to 269 frames in a single burst . For capturing decisive moments in sports or action photography, the Sony A6500 is a capable performer. DPReview’s review noted that the camera is “well-suited for sports and action photography” thanks to its deep buffer and burst speeds .

4K Video with S-Log

The Sony A6500 records 4K video at 30fps and 1080p at up to 120fps for slow motion . It supports the S-Log gamma profile for professional color grading, giving videographers flexibility in post-production. The camera also includes microphone and headphone ports for professional audio monitoring .

For hybrid shooters who need both excellent stills and video, the Sony A6500 delivers. The 5-axis IBIS smooths handheld footage, and the fast autofocus keeps subjects sharp during recording.

18-135mm Zoom Lens Included

This kit includes the Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens, a versatile all-in-one zoom that covers a 27-202.5mm equivalent range on the APS-C sensor. The lens features Optical SteadyShot (OSS) image stabilization, which works together with the camera’s IBIS for even more effective shake reduction .

Another noted that it is “powerful for its size” and “fits the sweet spot between 18 and 135mm” . For travel, everyday shooting, and a wide range of subjects, the 18-135mm lens is an excellent match for the Sony A6500.

Compact, Rugged Magnesium Alloy Body

The Sony A6500 features a magnesium alloy body that is both lightweight and durable . It weighs approximately 453g with battery, making it compact enough for everyday carry while still feeling solid and professional in the hand.

The camera has a tilt-touch LCD screen that allows for touch focus and easy framing from different angles . The grip is comfortable, and the controls are well-placed for quick adjustments.
