Why This Camera
The Q2 is defined by its Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH lens — sharp wide open, beautiful color rendering, and almost no chromatic aberration. The 47MP sensor allows aggressive cropping; at 35mm crop mode you still get 30MP of usable image , at 50mm crop you get 15MP . This makes the fixed 28mm lens feel like a 28-50mm zoom in post.
The weather sealing is genuine — unlike most compacts, the Q2 can be used confidently in rain and dust. The 4K video, 20fps electronic shutter, and optical stabilization make it surprisingly capable for modern needs.
Honest Note
The Q2 launched in 2019 and was succeeded by the Q3 in 2023 . What you give up vs Q3: lower resolution (47MP vs 60MP), no tilting screen, older processor, no 8K video. What you still get: the same legendary Summilux lens (unchanged), excellent build quality 47MP resolution that remains highly competitive, and a used price approximately half that of a Q3. For photographers who don’t need the absolute latest specifications, the Q2 remains an outstanding value.
