Real Owner Feedback (2025-2026):
“The A7IV remains the best hybrid camera under $2,500 used”
“Video recording can overheat after ~40 minutes of continuous 4K 60p – manage expectations”
“The new menu system is finally usable – huge improvement over A7III”
“Focus breathing compensation is a game-changer for video work”
“One of the most well-rounded cameras you can buy at this price point”
Honest Assessment for 2026:
The A7IV is now the established hybrid workhorse, having been succeeded in premium positioning by the A7V (released late 2025) but remains extraordinarily capable. For photographers, it excels at everything except extreme sports/wildlife (where stacked-sensor A9/A1 cameras have advantages). For videographers, the 4K 60p (with crop) and 10-bit codecs are competitive against cameras costing significantly more. The real advantage of the A7IV in 2026 is its maturity: all firmware bugs are ironed out, aftermarket accessories are plentiful and cheap, and the used price has finally reached mass adoption territory.
The hybrid camera gold standard. 33MP photos + 4K video + full bundle. Ready to create.
